IMAX 70mm is worth the hype

Watching this film right after finishing the book was a trip. However, a few scenes threw me off a bit since so much of the story got cut for time, and it made me think, if I hadn’t just read it, I probably would’ve been lost. But that’s really my only complaint. Other than that, this movie is truly remarkable. I still can’t get over how little CGI they used. The Cyclops is a real, giant animatronic thing, not some computer creation. The sets, the costumes, the makeup, every scene in the movie feels so real and convincing. The music is beautiful, and the climax is honestly one of the best that I have seen in recent years. I also have to mention Robert Pattinson. What an insanely good actor he is. Every scene he’s in, he just takes over completely. His acting masterclass is definitely one of the highlights of this film.

phew where to start.. first of all i am a huuuuuuge mythology especially greek mythology nerd so i was super excited when i found out one of the key parts of this culture was being adapted into a screenplay once again by none other than christopher nolan; i had gigantic expectations going in loved the cast thought lupita portrayed helen wonderfully also clytemnestra just wow i felt her rage within, i really liked the changes they made with antinous's story also of course pattinsons portrayal of him, oh the adaptation of circe "go back to your disguises" just uhhh!! (still would be better if at least kept hermes) the visuals the atmosphere the sound effects the music they were all wonderful but this was not the odyssey i read, it was an odyssey for sure but not homers one the key parts were gone or changed unnecessarily for instance was really looking forward to see odysseus's encounter with his mother in the underworld or penelopes bed trick to recognize him for me it showed how smart she was and how she was the only mortal who be able to outwit odysseus the biggest trickster there (so the perfect match) ALSO why did he have to change calypsos imprisonment of odysseus no the hell she did not change her mind like that and let go of odysseus, where the hell was hermes, zeus,POSEIDON?? really thought athena would play more of her key role between the gods and odysseus like in the epic to me this adaptation was like an atheist's take on the epic that was the odyssey, but for non-readers/just film enthusiasts i think this is a phenomenal cinema 2 hours and 52 minutes just passes by, if i could have shut the nerd inside me would have really enjoyed it without getting annoyed
