Bad Boys: A True Story

The film is loosely based on the real-life story of the Koistinen brothers, a notorious Finnish criminal family nicknamed 'The Daltons of Eura'.

The movie became the second most-watched Finnish film of the 2000s, behind only Aku Louhimies' The Unknown Soldier, and ranked 18th among all-time most-watched domestic films in Finland.

In Finnish theatres it was the second most successful film of 2003 after The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, grossing about $4.78 million and becoming one of the most successful Finnish films at the national box office ever.

The film drew 614,628 admissions in Finnish cinemas, placing it 15th on the list of the most-watched domestic films in Finnish history.

A 2004 study by the Police University College of Finland examined the film's influence on copycat crime and found it had somewhat inspired similar offenses.

The film won two Jussi Awards, for Pini Hellstedt's cinematography and Jyrki Rahkonen's sound design.

Critic Antti Lindqvist of TV-maailma praised Pini Hellstedt's cinematography, noting his use of two handheld cameras during filming.

Some critics, such as Turun Sanomat's Tapani Maskula, accused the filmmakers of prioritizing commercial appeal and displaying muscular male bodies over faithfully portraying the tragic true story, and felt the four brothers were not distinctly differentiated under Aleksi Mäkelä's direction.

The soundtrack features Finnish rock and metal acts including Apocalyptica, The Rasmus, Apulanta, Yö, and Olavi Uusivirta.
