Vizontele

The film's story is based on writer-director Yılmaz Erdoğan's own childhood memories of the arrival of the first television to his village, Hakkâri, in the early 1970s.

Although the story is set in Hakkâri, the actual filming took place in Gevaş, a district of Van Province, because shooting on location in Hakkâri proved too difficult.

Most of the cast members were performers from the Beşiktaş Cultural Center theatre troupe.

Co-director and writer Yılmaz Erdoğan also starred in the film himself, playing the eccentric electrician character Deli Emin.

Vizontele won three awards at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in 2001, including Best Actor for Altan Erkekli, Best Music for Kardeş Türküler, and a tied Best Actress award for Demet Akbağ.

The film also won the Audience Award at the Cologne Mediterranean Film Festival in 2001 and became one of the most successful Turkish films up to that time.

A sequel called Vizontele Tuuba, reuniting the director and most of the original cast, was released a few years later.
