One Piece 3D: Straw Hat Chase

This is the first One Piece theatrical film to be made entirely in full CG and digital 3D, and it is the shortest theatrical entry in the franchise's history (excluding the film it was co-screened with).

The film was released as part of the 'Jump Heroes Film' (JHF) program, screened together with 'Toriko 3D: Kaimaku! Gourmet Adventure!!'.

It also serves as the final theatrical installment tied to the 'Sabaku no Umi: Shinsei-hen' (New World/Supernova) era of the franchise.

Voice actor Tomokazu Yamaguchi performs a triple role, voicing all three characters of the Schneider Pirates: Schneider, his dog Bass, and the giant eagle form Bass transforms into.

The film's release was affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011, which forced the postponement of stage greeting events in the Kanto region and contributed to a decline in overall box office activity.

Despite debuting at number 7 in the Japanese box office rankings with an opening weekend gross of about 174 million yen, the film's final total gross of 790 million yen was the lowest in the entire One Piece theatrical film series.

The film received the Animation Division award at the 65th Eizo Gijutsu Shorei Award (Film Technology Encouragement Award).

The theme song 'Break into the Light ~Yakusoku no Boushi~', composed by Yuichi Oki and arranged/performed by Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, was the first purely instrumental theme song used in the theatrical film series.

A collaboration anime DVD titled 'Infiltrate!! Thousand Sunny' was produced in partnership with Nissan's new Serena model, distributed to test-drive customers at Nissan dealerships on March 5–6, 2011, featuring footage from the film alongside an introduction to the Thousand Sunny ship's interior.
