This film is the fourth and final installment in the Sartana series featuring the gunfighter-gravedigger character created by Gianfranco Parolini in If You Meet Sartana Pray for Your Death.

Giuliano Carnimeo directed Gianni Garko as Sartana for the third time, having previously helmed him in the character in earlier entries of the series.

The film was released under numerous alternate titles across different countries, including Cloud of Dust... Cry of Death... Sartana is Coming, Gunman in Town, Run, Man, Run... Sartana's in Town in the US and UK markets.

In a contemporary review for Monthly Film Bulletin, critic Verina Glaessner assessed an 89-minute English-dubbed version titled Gunman in Town, describing it as 'a thickly and incomprehensibly plotted Western' whose devices resurrected from the Dollar films made it 'reasonably watchable'.
