Suspicion is a British adaptation of the acclaimed Israeli thriller series False Flag, created by Maria Feldman and Amit Cohen, with development announced by Apple TV+ in July 2019.

The series was produced by Keshet UK, the British production arm of Keshet Media Group, the same company behind the original Hebrew-language series, with Rob Williams serving as showrunner and Chris Long directing.

Production began in the United Kingdom in March 2020 but was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, before resuming in November 2020 with filming in Brixham, England.

Filming also took place in New York City in May 2021, with cast members spotted shooting in Central Park, Washington Square Park, and the Upper East Side; production wrapped on 18 May 2021.

Uma Thurman was cast to star in the series as early as March 2020, alongside Kunal Nayyar, Noah Emmerich, Georgina Campbell, Elyes Gabel, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Angel Coulby, while Tom Rhys Harries joined the cast later, in November 2020.

Despite Uma Thurman's star billing, several critics noted she barely appears in the series, with The Hollywood Reporter's Angie Han warning fans watching for Thurman that she is 'barely in it at all'.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds a 48% approval rating from 29 critics with an average score of 6.20/10, with the consensus criticizing the show for wasting Thurman on a 'shallow mystery' despite its atmosphere of paranoia.

Apple TV+ cancelled Suspicion after just one season in July 2023, though the series was later re-released on ITVX in the UK in 2025.
