Trivia & behind the scenes

/
Casting

Timothy Hutton, who played Nathan Ford in the original Leverage series, did not return for the revival because he faced rape allegations, making him the only original main cast member excluded from the project.

Casting

Auden Wyle, who plays Becky Wilson, is the real-life daughter of Noah Wyle, who portrays her father Harry Wilson on the show.

Origins

The revival was originally ordered as a 13-episode season for IMDb TV in April 2020, but by April 2021 star Gina Bellman revealed that 16 episodes had actually been produced.

Filming

Filming for the first season began on August 10, 2020 in New Orleans and wrapped by March 2021.

Filming

Noah Wyle was originally planned to direct two episodes and Beth Riesgraf one, but they ended up directing three and two episodes respectively.

Casting

Aldis Hodge and Noah Wyle had limited appearances in later seasons due to scheduling conflicts with other projects, including Hodge's work on City on a Hill, Black Adam, and Cross, and Wyle's commitment to The Pitt.

Trivia

In February 2022, Timothy Hutton sued producer Electric Entertainment for breach of contract over his exclusion from the revival, leading to a countersuit alleging he withheld a settlement attempt related to the assault allegations to avoid violating his contract's morals clause; the two parties reached an undisclosed settlement in December 2024.

Reception

The first season of Leverage: Redemption holds a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 15 reviews, with critics praising it for capturing the fun of the original series while giving characters room to grow.
