I Can See Your Voice is an American adaptation of a South Korean music game show format, following in the footsteps of another Fox adaptation of a Korean format, The Masked Singer.

Host Ken Jeong, who also serves as a panelist on The Masked Singer, hosted the pilot for I Can See Your Voice before it was picked up to series.

Fox first announced the series at the Television Critics Association's January 2020 press tour and officially ordered it to series in February 2020, with Jeong also serving as co-executive producer alongside Craig Plestis and James McKinlay.

Craig Plestis, one of the show's executive producers, was replaced by Daniel Martin for the third season.

Production was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic after only one episode had been completed; Fox resumed filming without a studio audience under enhanced safety protocols in August 2020, making it one of the network's first non-scripted series to do so.

Because Fox did not air episodes in the order they were produced, the single episode filmed before the pandemic halt was broadcast later in the season rather than first.

Singer Adrienne Houghton and actress Cheryl Hines were announced on August 26, 2020 as the show's regular celebrity panelists.

Season 3 was filmed at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia.

Season 3's premiere was delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes; though originally slated to air on September 19, 2023 as replacement programming, Fox instead aired reruns of 9-1-1: Lone Star and pushed the season to its normal winter slot in January 2024.
