The term 'Heaven Official's Blessing' derives from the Shangyuan Festival of Taoism, during which the immortal Tianguan was said to descend into the mortal world to bring blessings; the phrase is traditionally written on fai chun for the festival.

The novel was serialized on Jinjiang Literature City from June 16, 2017 to February 25, 2018, for a total of 244 chapters plus eight extra chapters.

The seventh volume of the English translation published by Seven Seas Entertainment reached fifth place on the New York Times bestseller list for the week of October 1, 2023, the best result ever achieved by a novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu up to that point.

The Chinese title of the novel, 天官赐福, directly draws from the traditional expression used during the Shangyuan Festival linked to the figure of the immortal Tianguan.
