Trivia & behind the scenes

/
Origins

Pasión de Gavilanes was written by Julio Jiménez and is based on his own 1994 telenovela Las Aguas Mansas, produced by RTI.

Origins

A second season was announced by Telemundo on 12 May 2021 during its annual upfront presentation, set 20 years after the events of the original series; filming began on 18 October 2021 and the season aired from 14 February to 31 May 2022.

Music

Although the character Rosario Montes (played by Zharick León) is credited singing 'Fiera inquieta,' the vocals were actually performed by singer Ángela María Forero, with Danna García providing backing vocals on some of the soundtrack's songs.

References

The telenovela was adapted in the Philippines as 'Pasión de Amor,' produced by ABS-CBN with RTI Producciones, Caracol Televisión and Telemundo's permission; it aired from June 2015 to February 2016 for 194 episodes across three seasons.

Reception

The series became a massive worldwide hit, topping ratings in countries including Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Panama, Puerto Rico, China, Israel, Russia, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Poland.

Reception

In Argentina, where it aired on Telefe in 2005, it became the most-watched foreign telenovela in the country's history, drawing around 30 million daily viewers and effectively 'paralyzing' the country whenever it aired.

Reception

In Colombia, the show achieved an average household rating of 40.8 points and a 61.1% audience share, peaking at 54.6 household rating points in April 2004; as of 2021 it remained the second most-watched program in the history of Colombian private television.

Reception

In Spain, the first season—costing about one million pesetas per episode—was highly profitable for Atresmedia with its finale reaching five million viewers, whereas the second season's total production cost of ten million US dollars was deemed too expensive to broadcast on Antena 3, leading Spanish audiences to be directed instead to Netflix and eventually Mediaset.
