The series is a television adaptation of Michel Marc Bouchard's play of the same name, created, written, and directed by Xavier Dolan.

Much of the core cast, including those playing the Larouche siblings, had already played these roles in the original 2019 stage production of Bouchard's play before reprising them for the series.

Xavier Dolan himself plays a supporting role in the series as Elliot, the youngest Larouche brother, in addition to creating, writing and directing it.

The first two episodes of the series screened in the Indie Episodic program at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

The series won six Prix Gémeaux, including Best Direction, Best Leading Role in a Drama Series, Best Supporting Role in a Drama Series, Best Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Original Music.

The series premiered in Canada on Club Illico on November 24, 2022, aired on Canal+ in France in early 2023, and later premiered in the US on Netflix on October 18, 2023.
