Origins

Teresa is a new version of a previous Mexican soap opera of the same name, with versions produced in 1959 and 1989, this being the 2010 adaptation original to Mimí Bechelani.

The telenovela presented two alternative endings that were shown on the program Hoy on February 28, 2011, one day after the original ending aired.

In one of the alternative endings, Teresa decides to leave Arturo's house to start a new life as a secretary, hinting that she will seduce her new boss while repeating her characteristic phrase 'To be or not to be, I am'.

Reception

In the other alternative ending, of tragic tone, Fernando shoots Teresa after reproaching her betrayal, and she dies embracing the stuffed bear that Arturo had given her.

The phrase 'To be or not to be, I am' became the distinctive motto of Teresa's character throughout the story.
