In a small, middle-class town in Long Island, NY, three women – and close-knit childhood friends – cope with the death of the fourth member of their group. When faced with the reality that life is short, these women pivot, and alter their current paths, by way of a series of impulsive, ill-advised and self-indulgent decisions. These pivots will strengthen their bond and prove it’s never too late to screw up your life in the pursuit of happiness.

The series was announced in development at Fox in November 2019 under the title Pivoting, created by Liz Astrof, with Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor as executive producers.

Fox gave the show a pilot order in February 2020, with the pilot written by Liz Astrof and directed by Tristram Shapeero, before it was picked up to series in May 2021.

Eliza Coupe and Tommy Dewey were the first actors cast, joining the show in April 2020.

Despite generally favorable reviews, including a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 10 critics and a 67/100 score on Metacritic, Fox canceled the series in May 2022 after just one season.
