The series is based on the song 'Heroine Tarumono!', part of the Kokuhaku Jikkō Iinkai: Ren'ai Series Vocaloid song project created by HoneyWorks.

The anime project was officially announced on August 28, 2021.

Several characters, including Hina Setoguchi and Kotarō Enomoto, are crossover characters who first appeared in another HoneyWorks anime, Zutto Mae Kara Suki Deshita (the Kokuhaku Jikkō Iinkai series).

The opening theme 'Julietta' is performed by the in-story idol duo LIP×LIP, while the ending theme 'Tokyo Sunny Party' is sung by voice actresses Inori Minase, Ayane Sakura, and Saori Hayami in character.

The in-story song 'Nonfantasy', used as an insert song in episodes 3 and 4, was also used as the theme song for another anime, Itsudatte Bokura no Koi wa 10 Centi Datta.

For the English dub, which premiered on April 21, 2022 via Crunchyroll, the cast was produced in-house in Texas rather than the usual Los Angeles-based studios typically used for anime dubs.

A manga adaptation illustrated by Ruia Shimakage began serialization under the 'KoiYui' label by Futabasha, releasing chapters on the 1st and third Sunday of each month starting January 16, 2022, with the first volume published June 16, 2022.
