Origins

The series was created and written by Paul Matthew Thompson, a screenwriter on the police drama Vera, together with Jonathan Fisher.

Casting

The show is co-produced by star Adrian Dunbar, who also plays the title character, Alex Ridley.

Filming

Filming took place on location mainly in rural areas of northern England, including Lancashire, the Yorkshire Dales and the Pennine moors, with some scenes set in Bolton.

Reception

A second series was commissioned in 2023 and began airing in the United States on 15 September 2024, ahead of its UK broadcast on ITV starting 10 August 2025.
