Filming

Although the series is set in New York City, most or all of it was actually filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with stock footage used to make it appear to be set in New York.

Filming

The opening sequence featured a television crew loading trucks in the foreground, with a large advertisement painted on the rear of a building for a theatrical production of The Phantom of the Opera that was actually showing in Toronto at the time.

Casting

Kevin Dobson's character, Detective Leo McCarthy, was killed off after the first season and replaced by a new police handler, Mira Sanchez, played by Jacqueline Torres, for season two.

Casting

Carrie-Anne Moss appeared in the first season as Lucinda 'Luce' Scott, a struggling actress recruited by the main character to act as a body double or ringer when needed.

The series is based on the film F/X and ran for 40 episodes on CTV from September 9, 1996 through May 25, 1998.

Reception

The complete series was released on DVD in Region 1 by Alliance Home Entertainment (Canada only), while Cinema Club released the first season on DVD in the UK (Region 2) on March 27, 2006.
