Choi Woo-shik and Kim Da-mi reunite in this series after having already shared the cast of the film Witch (2018).

Shooting began in early July 2021, with scenes filmed notably near Suwon Hwaseong Castle and in the traditional village of Jeonju Hanok.

The series was entirely pre-produced before its broadcast (sajeon jeja), an ambitious strategy by SBS to secure the best time slot on Monday-Tuesday against other channels like KBS, while anticipating the necessary control procedures for selling broadcasting rights abroad.

The casting of the two lead actors, Choi Woo-shik and Kim Da-mi, was confirmed in March 2021, and the entire cast was finalized on July 8, 2021.

In addition to its broadcast on SBS, the series was simultaneously distributed on streaming platforms such as Netflix and Wavve, and aired in more than 40 countries around the world, notably in East Asia.
