Filming took place from November 2, 2020 to March 1, 2021 in Kitzbühel and Berchtesgaden, with locations including the Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden, the Hotel Klosterhof in Bayerisch Gmain, and the cemetery in Schönau am Königssee.

Most of the outdoor scenes were shot in Kitzbühel, and filming took place during the COVID-19 pandemic amid a mass quarantine in the town.

Trained ski instructor Valerie Huber was allowed to film a ski scene herself, while the other actors were doubled for the downhill skiing scenes for insurance reasons.

The series was directed by two different directors for different episode blocks: Maurice Hübner directed the first three episodes and Lea Becker directed episodes four through six.

Several critics, including reviewers from filmstarts.de and esquire.de, noted strong parallels to the Spanish Netflix series Élite, pointing out that both feature a group of super-rich teenagers whose money, parties, lies and intrigues catch up with them, and both include a non-wealthy character being taken into the elite circle, even following a similar non-linear storytelling structure.

During the week of January 3 to 9, 2022, the show was the most-watched series on Netflix in Austria, ranking ahead of the British miniseries Wer einmal lügt and the second season of The Witcher.

The series received largely mixed to negative reviews from German-language critics, who criticized it for clichéd characters, wooden dialogue with exaggerated English loanwords, and a lack of authentic local color, though some praised its fast pace and diverse casting.

The series received a nomination for Valerie Huber as most popular actress at the 2022 Romy Awards, a New Faces Award nomination for Bless Amada as best newcomer, and a nomination for Best Series at the 19th Quotenmeter Television Award.
