Trivia & behind the scenes

/
Origins

In Treatment is an American adaptation produced and developed by Rodrigo Garcia, based on the Israeli series BeTipul, created by Hagai Levi, Ori Sivan and Nir Bergman.

Origins

The show's format, script and opening theme are based on, and are often verbatim translations of, the original Israeli series BeTipul.

Filming

According to The New York Times, production for Season 2 relocated from Los Angeles to New York City at the insistence of star Gabriel Byrne, who otherwise threatened to resign from the show.

Filming

The move to New York and the addition of a Sunday night slot were seen by HBO executives as votes of confidence in the series.

Origins

Season 3 was the first not based on the original Israeli series, which had only two seasons of material to draw from, so new storylines were created independently.

Casting

For the fourth season, Uzo Aduba took over as the series lead, playing therapist Dr. Brooke Taylor, replacing Gabriel Byrne's Paul Weston as the central character.

Reception

The second season won a 2009 Peabody Award and achieved a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 19 reviews.

Reception

Season 1 earned Dianne Wiest an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress and Glynn Turman an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor, while Gabriel Byrne won the Golden Globe for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
