Trivia & behind the scenes

/
Origins

The telenovela's story is based on Charles Perrault's classic fairy tale 'Cinderella' and also bears strong resemblances to the film 'The Sound of Music' directed by Robert Wise.

Origins

The title 'Floricienta' is a blend of 'Flor' (the nickname of the main character, Florencia) and 'Cenicienta' (Cinderella in Spanish); its official international title for English-speaking countries is 'Flinderella'.

Origins

The show was created by Cris Morena and written by Patricia Maldonado, Gabriela Fiore and Solange Keoleyan, and was the first fiction produced through RGB Entertainment for Canal 13.

Filming

Filming took place mainly in the Florida and Martínez neighborhoods (San Isidro and Vicente López districts, Buenos Aires Province) at Estudios Pampa, with additional scenes shot on the streets of Buenos Aires, while the show's setting was the Belgrano neighborhood.

Filming

The Fritzenwalden family mansion, used for the show's exterior entrance scenes, was a real house located in Florida near the Mitre railway station, and it became regarded as a museum for fans of the program.

Filming

Due to the massive phenomenon the show caused in Argentina, its series finale ('El día de la boda') was filmed live at the Hipódromo de San Isidro in front of more than 30,000 spectators, setting a historic audience record for the country.

Reception

The finale broadcast averaged 22.1 rating points with peaks up to 25 during prime time, while the show's overall best rating episode (chapter 172 of season one) reached 27.8 points with peaks of 30.

References

Floricienta was dubbed and broadcast in more than 40 countries under various translated titles, including 'Flor, speciale come te' in France and Italy, 'Csacska angyal' in Hungary, and 'Pelenės istorija' in Lithuania.

Trivia

The show's success generated a merchandising line of more than 200 licensed products (toys, bicycles, school supplies, clothing, cosmetics and more), reportedly earning over $4 million per month in 2004, making it Argentina's biggest youth licensing brand until it was surpassed by Patito Feo, Violetta and Soy Luna.
