Halifax f.p. is an Australian television crime series produced by Nine Network from 1994 to 2002. The series stars Rebecca Gibney as Doctor Jane Halifax, a forensic psychiatrist investigating cases involving the mental state of suspects or victims. The series is set in Melbourne. The producers of the film were Beyond Simpson Le Mesurier; Australian Film Finance Corporation and aired on the Nine Network Australia Pty Ltd 21 Episodes of 90 and 102 minutes each were produced, and the series has screened in more than 60 countries. The budget for each episode was an average of $1.3 million. Funding came in part from the Australian Film Finance Corporation and Film Victoria.

Filming

The series was set and filmed around Melbourne, with lead character Jane Halifax shown living at Jensen House on Swanston Street opposite the State Library of Victoria and working from offices in Causeway House on Little Collins Street.

Dr Jane Halifax's car changes throughout the series: she drives a Jaguar Mark 2 in episodes 1-7 and 9, switches to a modern convertible in episode 8, and later drives a Saab 900 NG.

In August-October 2020, a short weekly revival titled Halifax: Retribution aired, continuing the original series after an 18-year gap.

Reception

The show received multiple AFI/AACTA Award nominations over the years, winning Best Telefeature for The Feeding in 1995 and Best Actor for Colin Friels and Steven Vidler for Hard Corps the same year.
