Murderville is an American adaptation based on the BBC Three television series Murder in Successville, but it changes the format so that suspects are fictional characters rather than celebrities played by impersonators.

The series is built around improvisation: guest stars are not given a script beforehand and must improvise through the police procedural while trying to solve the crime alongside Will Arnett's character.

The first season of Murderville was filmed in mid-2021.

The Guardian's Jack Seale criticized the American remake for stripping away the 'eccentric rough edges' that made the original British series Murder in Successville a beloved cult hit.

In a December 2025 interview, Will Arnett revealed that Murderville was never officially canceled, but Netflix stopped funding new episodes despite his argument that the show was very inexpensive to produce.
