Trivia & behind the scenes

/
Casting

Ethan Hawke voices Batman/Bruce Wayne in the series, having previously turned down the role of Batman for Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever.

Casting

Diedrich Bader voices the Tumbler, a vehicle based on Batman Begins, having previously voiced Batman himself in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Casting

John DiMaggio reprises his voice as Aquaman from Batman: The Brave and the Bold, reuniting him with castmates Diedrich Bader and James Arnold Taylor from that earlier series.

Casting

The character A.D.A.M., an early Batmobile based on the 1966 Batman series, uses archived dialogue from Adam West, who played Batman in that classic show.

Origins

The series was announced in development in October 2020 as an animated preschool show centered on the Batmobile, greenlit by Warner Bros. because its concept fit the studio's preschool programming focus.

Origins

Developer Michael G. Stern was brought onto the project early during Warner Bros.' exploration of preschool-oriented DC shows, while supervising producer Simon J. Smith joined after Stern wrote the first scripts.

Origins

While writing the show, Stern deliberately avoided 'kiddifying' the characters, aiming to stay faithful to classic portrayals of Batman and the villains while only toning down violence and adapting them for a young audience.

Origins

The writers tested the personalities of the Batwheels characters with a focus group to ensure they were perceived as lovable and fun, so children wouldn't watch the show only for Batman.

Music

The show's theme song was performed and produced by Andy Sturmer, who also voices the villain Music Meister and previously composed themes for The Batman and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Trivia

Animation for the series is produced by French studio Superprod Animation and Israeli-Canadian studio Snowball Studios, the latter having handled the show's original pilot and early development.
