Falcon Beach

Falcon Beach debuted in 2005 as a TV movie in Canada before being developed into a full TV series that premiered in 2006.

The show was filmed in Winnipeg and Manitoba, and aired on both Canadian and American networks.

Uniquely, each episode was produced in two versions: one for Canadian audiences referencing the fictional town of Falcon Beach, Manitoba, and one for U.S. audiences where the setting was presented as New England.

The character of Lane Bradshaw, played by Morgan Kelly in the series, was originally portrayed by Eric Johnson in the pilot movie.

The character Peggy Tanner, played by Jill Teed in the series, was originally portrayed by Barbara Tyson in the pilot movie.

The series was cancelled in April 2007 after ABC Family declined to renew it for a third season, since Global TV could not sustain production without the U.S. network's financial support.

Executive producer Kim Todd noted that Global TV offered to renew the show for a third season but at a substantially lower budget than the previous two seasons.

Falcon Beach's audience was predominantly girls aged 12 to 17, but the show failed to attract the broader 18-49 demographic that ABC Family wanted.

The show's title theme song, 'Beautiful Blue', is sung by Holly McNarland, who was born in Winnipeg, the city where the series was filmed.

The music for the 2005 pilot movie featured songs from several Canadian indie and major label artists, including Sloan, Sam Roberts, and Matt Mays & El Torpedo.
