Trivia & behind the scenes

/
Origins

The series was created by Stan Rogow, known for Lizzie McGuire and Darcy's Wild Life, and D. J. MacHale, known for Are You Afraid of the Dark? and the Pendragon book series.

Origins

Instead of a standard episodic third season, the show's story was concluded with a four-part television film called Flight 29 Down: The Hotel Tango, which aired in August 2007 as the series finale.

Filming

The series was filmed on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

References

Although it debuted a year after Lost and shares superficial similarities with it (a plane crash stranding a group on an island), Flight 29 Down never included any supernatural elements, unlike Lost. The show is also noted to share similarities with The New People and Gordon Korman's Island trilogy.

Music

Composer Sam Winans wrote most of the show's music, and actor Corbin Bleu, who played Nathan McHugh, sang the song 'Circles' in the background of the episode 'He Said, She Said, He Said.'

Trivia

The show was adapted into a series of tie-in novels, which contain several differences from the television episodes, such as altered scene order, different character motivations for events like the group's election, and variations in details like which shoes a character wears while running in the episode 'Mazeathon.'

Trivia

In the book Ten Rules, Lex's parents are said to be divorced, whereas in the television film he instead mentions that his father died.

Reception

After finishing its original run on Discovery Kids, the series continued in reruns on The Hub until December 24, 2011, and was later made available for streaming on Peacock and Tubi TV in the United States.
