Super Force is an action-adventure TV series about a former astronaut who uses an advanced combat suit and motorcycle to fight crime in the city of Metroplex during the year 2020. Among the features of the suit were enhanced strength and armament, whereas the motorcycle had an array of James Bond-type gadgets and weapons.

Origins

Super Force was syndicated by Viacom and designed as a companion series to Superboy, intended as the second half of a proposed two-hour block of action programming that also included Lightning Force.

Origins

Despite being a 30-minute series, Super Force unusually debuted with a two-hour TV pilot film, which was later split into four episodes for syndication.

Effects

The Super Force suit, motorcycle, and nightstick were designed and built by special effects expert Robert Short, who was inspired by RoboCop and had also created the red superhero suit worn by John Wesley Shipp in the 1990 live-action TV series The Flash.

Casting

Recurring Season One villain Satori was played by G. Gordon Liddy, best known as the man who planned the Watergate scandal break-in.

The series featured guest appearances by LSD guru Timothy Leary as well as former adult film stars Traci Lords and Ginger Lynn.

References

The character E.B. Hungerford lives on after his death as a pixelated, Max Headroom-style computer simulation voiced by Patrick Macnee, who also played the human Hungerford.
