Mercy

Mercy was originally planned to premiere as a midseason replacement, but was moved up to the fall 2009 schedule after the premiere of Parenthood was delayed to 2010 due to production issues.

The series primarily filmed at a warehouse at 10 Enterprise Avenue in Secaucus, New Jersey, selected by NBC producer Jim Bigwood, and occasionally shot inside a private residence in Weehawken, New Jersey.

Interior hospital scenes were shot in the unused Barnert Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey and the old St Mary's Hospital in Passaic, while exterior shots of Mercy Hospital used the back of a public school in Jersey City.

The fictional Lucky 7's Bar combined two real locations: its exterior was filmed at the corner of 2nd and Coles Street in Jersey City, while its interior was actually the Park Tavern on West Side Avenue in Jersey City.

The Red Fox Saloon was similarly a composite set, with exterior shots filmed at the Monaghan House in South Amboy and interior shots at Ted's Bar in the Morgan area of Sayreville, New Jersey.

Production relocated from New Jersey to New York in 2010 after Governor Chris Christie suspended the state's film and television tax credits for fiscal year 2011 to help close budget gaps.

Multiple critics described Mercy as a weak copy of Showtime's Nurse Jackie, which was airing around the same time with a similar nursing-focused premise.

Despite mostly mixed-to-negative reviews (a 41/100 on Metacritic), New York Daily News critic David Hinckley favorably compared Mercy to ER, saying it came closest yet to capturing that show's chemistry.
