Co-producers Kevin Crosby Hopps and Toby Shelton drew inspiration from classic Donald Duck theatrical shorts, where Donald mostly interacted with humans, and decided to incorporate humans into the world of Quack Pack, contrasting with DuckTales' all-animal setting.

Toby Shelton considered Quack Pack more of an extension of the original Donald Duck shorts than of DuckTales, which is why many DuckTales characters like Scrooge McDuck, Launchpad McQuack, and Mickey Mouse don't appear in the series.

The show's original title was Duck Daze before it was changed to Quack Pack prior to release; references to the original title remain in the theme song.

For the series, Donald's previously interchangeable nephews were each given distinct voices and personalities: Huey became the smooth-talker and schemer, Dewey the intellectual and prankster, and Louie the athlete and oddball.

Quack Pack served as inspiration for a 2017 DuckTales reboot episode of the same name, in which the main characters find themselves trapped in a 1990s sitcom and must deal with a human studio audience they perceive as monsters.

In the DuckTales reboot's series finale 'The Last Adventure!', it is revealed that Donald kept a Hawaiian shirt similar to the one he wore in Quack Pack, prompting Della to sarcastically ask if the year was 1996, the year Quack Pack originally aired.
