Fox gave the series a straight-to-series order in May 2022, with John Eisendrath serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside co-creator Jamie Foxx and Datari Turner.

Dania Ramirez was announced as one of the leads in August 2022, with Scott Caan joining shortly after as the second lead.

Adeola Role, Ryan Broussard, and Graham Verchere were announced as series regulars in October 2022, while Petey Gibson, Fivel Stewart, and Bre Blair joined in recurring roles the following month.

Ahead of season two, Alisha-Marie Ahamed was promoted to series regular and Gil Bellows joined in a recurring role, both announced in January 2024.

Production for the show's later seasons took place in Vancouver.

The series holds a 29% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 7 critic reviews, along with a 32% audience score, while Metacritic gave it a weighted score of 48 out of 100 based on 6 critics, indicating 'mixed or average reviews'.

Despite being renewed for a third season in May 2024, the series was ultimately canceled in June 2025 after three seasons.
