Violet like the sea

The series is loosely inspired by the novel 'Do You Know Summer?' by writer Simona Tanzini, published by Sellerio Editore.

The series was created by Elena Bucaccio and Silvia Leuzzi and produced by Lux Vide in collaboration with RTI.

The filming of the first season took place between September 2021 and April 2022, alternating locations in Palermo and around Rome, including Monterotondo, Terrasini, Termini Imerese, Civita Castellana, Formello and Ostia.

In Palermo, iconic locations were used such as Torre Alba, the fishermen's village, Mondello beach, the city port, the Massimo Theatre and the Palazzina dei Quattro Pizzi, located in the area of the former Tonnara Florio.

The scene of the discovery of a young boy victim of an accident was filmed on the Peppino Impastato waterfront in Terrasini.

The filming of the second season took place from 17 July to 23 December 2023, still between Rome and Palermo, while filming of the third season began in early February 2026.

Thanks to the excellent success of the first season, the series was renewed for a second season, and after the success of the second, the renewal for a third also arrived, announced by Pier Silvio Berlusconi during a press conference in Cologno Monzese on 5 June 2024.

It was the same actor Can Yaman who announced the series on 10 August 2021 via his own Instagram profile, even before the transmission of official promos on Canale 5.

The first season was also distributed on Netflix starting from 1 March 2023, while the second season was made available exclusively on Mediaset Infinity, with the first six episodes on 24 April 2024 and the remaining six on 10 May 2024.
