Ziggy Ramo made his acting debut in the first season, playing Ezekiel Iesul, while also co-producing the show's music alongside Jed Palmer.

The first season was filmed in and around Proserpine, Queensland, in 2022, under directors Matthew Saville and Sian Davies.

The second season, subtitled 'Jack of Clubs', was filmed in and around the Glass House Mountains in Queensland, with production beginning on 9 April 2024 and wrapping on 11 November 2024.

Star Travis Fimmel took on an executive producer role for the second season of the show.

The third season, renewed on 5 March 2026, is set to take place in Far North Queensland.

The series was written by Lucas Taylor, who also created it, alongside co-writers Boyd Quakawoot and Beatrix Christian.

The show reached international audiences beyond Australia, airing on Sundance Now and AMC+ in the United States, and on BBC Four in August 2023 and BBC Two in April 2025 in the United Kingdom.

Critic Luke Buckmaster of The Guardian noted the series 'starts strong but runs out of gas as it approaches its twist-filled ending', while Karl Quinn of The Sydney Morning Herald described it as 'a Trojan horse of a show' hiding challenging ideas beneath an effective crime drama.
