Runaway

Runaway, along with The Game, was one of only two series on the newly launched CW network that was not inherited from either of its predecessor networks, The WB and UPN.

The series was created by Chad Hodge and produced by Golly and Darren Star Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television.

The show's premise, about a father seeking evidence to clear his name while on the run, was noted as similar in plot to The Fugitive.

Runaway was canceled just four weeks after its debut, making it the first show to be canceled on the new CW network.

Although thirteen episode scripts were ordered and nine episodes were filmed, only three episodes were actually broadcast by the CW during its original run.

The unfilmed episode scripts included titles such as 'They Say It's Your Birthday', 'Dashing Through the Snow', 'Trial and Error', and 'Knock, Knock'.

The series had the lowest ratings of any programming across all five major U.S. broadcast networks that season, finishing last with a ranking of 142 and an average of 2 million viewers.

In the UK on channel E4, the show's fifth episode broadcast was replaced by How to Look Good Naked and instead aired at 1:35am the next morning, after which the series was relegated to a very late timeslot due to poor ratings.
