Light Shop is based on a webtoon of the same name written by Kang Full, which was serialized on Kakao Webtoon in 2011.

The series marked actor Kim Hee-won's debut as a director, as he was selected to direct Kang Full's own webtoon adaptation.

Ju Ji-hoon, Kim Seol-hyun, Bae Seong-woo, and Park Bo-young were the first actors cast for the series in 2023, with the rest of the ensemble officially confirmed on January 19, 2024.

Kim Hee-won and Kang Full previously collaborated as actor and writer on the series Moving, and reunited here as director and writer.

Kim Hee-won and Ju Ji-hoon previously starred together in Project Silence and reunited on Light Shop as director and actor.

Park Bo-young and Lee Jung-eun reunited on this series after previously working together on Daily Dose of Sunshine.

Kim Seol-hyun and Shin Eun-soo reunited after having worked together on I Don't Want This Kind of Hero (a.k.a. an earlier collaboration).

Bae Seong-woo and Park Jung-min, who has a special appearance in the series, previously worked together on The Eighth Show.

Light Shop became Disney+'s biggest Korean original premiere of 2024 and ranks as the second-largest Korean series debut ever on the platform globally, trailing only Moving, another Kang Full creation.

During its release period, lead actor Ju Ji-hoon also appeared in the tvN series Love Next Door, which was simultaneously released on Disney+.
