Kohrra was officially announced by Netflix in May 2023, with the first-look poster featuring lead actors Barun Sobti and Suvinder Vicky revealed the same month.

The second season introduced new cast members Mona Singh and Rannvijay Singha, while Barun Sobti returned as ASI Amarpal Jasjit Garundi, now stationed at a different police station (Dalerpura instead of Jagrana).

Actor Jaideep Ahlawat makes a cameo appearance in the second season as a railway lineman.

At the 2023 Filmfare OTT Awards, Kohrra received 9 nominations, including Best Drama Series, and won 5 awards, including Best Director in a Series (Critics) for Randeep Jha, Best Actor for Suvinder Vicky, and Best Supporting Actor for Barun Sobti.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Kohrra holds a rating of 100%.

Critic Shilajit Mitra of The Hindu compared the show's opening to the film Memories of Murder, noting both open on a vast, verdant field where a body is discovered.

There was a gap of over two and a half years between the two seasons, with season one premiering on 15 July 2023 and season two premiering on 11 February 2026.
