Suburræterna is freely inspired by the novel Suburra by Giancarlo De Cataldo and Carlo Bonini, based on the film by Stefano Sollima, and is the spin-off/sequel to Suburra - La serie.

The first two episodes of the series were premiered at the Rome Film Festival during the closing evening on October 29, 2023.
