Cashero is based on the Kakao webtoon of the same name created by Lee Hoon and No Hye-ok, known together as "Team Befar".

Director Lee Chang-min described the series as a distinct, reality-oriented take on the superhero genre, deliberately avoiding the Marvel style to emphasize the ironic premise of an ordinary man whose superpowers are tied to how much cash he carries.

Filming began in December 2023 and wrapped in late 2024, with production handled by SLL and Drama House Studio.

On October 19, 2024, night shoots involving frequent explosion sound effects in the Sinbong-dong and Bongmyeong-dong areas of Cheongju startled local residents, prompting a wave of complaints from community groups.

Following the noise complaints, the production team posted an apology banner on October 23, 2024, apologizing to residents for the disturbance caused during the weekend shoot and promising to minimize noise for the rest of filming.

The apartment that the couple Kang Sang-woong and Kim Min-sook go to view in the show is believed to be the Hwaseo Station Park Prugio, a 25-pyeong unit.

Cashero received generally negative reviews from critics who criticized its narrative execution; Kate Sánchez of But Why Tho? gave it 3/10, Pierce Conran of the South China Morning Post gave it 1.5/5 calling it a "messy superhero spectacle", and Janani K. of India Today gave it 2.5/5.

Despite mixed reviews, the series debuted at number two on Netflix's global non-English rankings within two days of release, rose to the top spot in its second week, and stayed on the Top 10 chart for four weeks overall.
