The series was created by Liz Feldman, who also served as showrunner and executive producer, with Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum co-executive producing through their Gloria Sanchez Productions banner.

The main cast, including Lisa Kudrow, Ray Romano, Linda Cardellini, Luke Wilson, Abbi Jacobson, Poppy Liu, and Teyonah Parris, was announced in December 2023, followed by Denis Leary and O-T Fagbenle joining in January 2024.

In July 2025, Netflix placed the series on an indefinite hiatus after deciding not to renew it for a second season, with Deadline Hollywood reporting that any potential return would feature a new cast.
