Billionaires' Bunker was created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato specifically for Netflix, blending science fiction, drama and thriller elements.

Filming began in early February 2024, and the production used a set of more than 8,000 square meters located in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid, to recreate the Kimera Underground Park bunker.

The same Colmenar Viejo set had previously been used for other Álex Pina productions, including Vis a vis and La casa de papel (Money Heist).

Besides the main bunker set, some scenes were filmed on location at Loma del Puerco on La Barrosa beach on April 23 and 24, 2024.

On December 10, 2025, Netflix announced the cancellation of Billionaires' Bunker after just one season, and the sets were already being dismantled after the cast had been informed.

Netflix began releasing the first promotional previews for the series on May 14, 2025, followed by the official trailer on May 28, 2025, which confirmed the premiere date of September 19, 2025.
