Sam Neill's role as Paul Souter marks his final TV series role.

The series was originally pitched to Netflix as a limited miniseries but was renewed for a second season shortly after its premiere.

Sam Neill, Lily Santiago, Rosemarie DeWitt and Wilson Bethel all joined the cast in June 2024.

Filming took place in Vancouver, British Columbia, starting in June 2024, including at Chip Kerr Park, standing in for the Yosemite National Park setting.

Star Eric Bana also serves as an executive producer on the series alongside showrunners Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith.

Untamed topped Netflix's English-language TV chart for two consecutive weeks after release, drawing 24.6 million views in its first week and 26.1 million in its second.

The series holds an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 64 critic reviews, with critics praising Eric Bana's performance and the Yosemite scenery, while Metacritic gave it a more mixed score of 62/100.
