This Australian adaptation of The Office was announced in development in May 2023, marking the 13th adaptation in The Office franchise and the third English-language version after the British and American series.

The show is co-produced by BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand, Bunya Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios, and was developed for Australia by Julie De Fina and Jackie van Beek.

Original creator Ricky Gervais commented on the remake, saying he was excited to see how the Australian version would navigate a modern-day David Brent given how office politics had changed in the two decades since the original aired.

Felicity Ward stars as Hannah Howard, making this the first female-led series in The Office franchise, with several characters who were male in the original and American versions reimagined as women.

Principal photography took place in mid-2023 in Rydalmere, a suburb of Sydney, which also serves as the setting for the fictional branch office in the show.

The official trailer, released on YouTube on 18 September 2024, was met with a mostly negative reception, and the series had already been negatively compared to other Australian comedies like Utopia and Deadloch upon its 2023 announcement.

On Rotten Tomatoes the series holds a 71% approval rating with an average score of 6.1/10 based on 14 reviews, with critics noting it doesn't fully escape feeling like 'a photocopy of a photocopy' despite a likable cast.

All eight episodes were released on 18 October 2024 on Amazon Prime Video worldwide except in the United States, and the series was cancelled after just one season in October 2025.
