The series is based on the 2021 novel of the same title by Song Hee-gu, published by Seosamdok Publishing House.

It was directed by Cho Hyun-tak, known for previous works such as Sky Castle (2018), Snowdrop (2021), and The Atypical Family (2024).

The names of most characters were taken from the Korean translated version of the manga Slam Dunk, since the writer is a fan of the series.

The scene featuring a YouTuber named 'IT Boy' complaining about internet speed appears to be inspired by the real-life KT 10-gigabit internet speed degradation incident, with the nickname 'It Boy' evoking the well-known Korean tech YouTuber Itsub.

The color of the title logo shown at the end of each episode changed throughout the series: yellow for episodes 1 to 6, orange for episode 7, and red from episode 8 onward, symbolizing key stages in Mr. Kim's story such as his time at ACT, his resignation, and being scammed in a real estate investment.

Unlike most JTBC dramas, the show was not available for simultaneous streaming on Chzzk, the platform JTBC had been using since May 2025, making it only the second series after Esquire: Lawyers Who Want to Be Lawyers to be excluded from that platform.

At the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards in 2026, Ryu Seung-ryong won the Grand Prize (Daesang) in the television category, and Yoo Seung-mok won Best Supporting Actor.
