The series was originally titled 'How We Became the Biggest Band in the World' when it received a series order from Disney Branded Television on November 1, 2024, before being renamed Electric Bloom on June 4, 2025.

The show was created by Eric Friedman, Alex Fox, and Rachel Lewis, alumni of Crash & Bernstein and Bizaardvark, with the original concept pitched by songwriter Diane Warren and Bahareh Batmang.

According to the article, the series concept was actually pitched back in 2019, years before it finally went into production.

Legendary songwriter Diane Warren, who is also an executive producer, wrote songs for the pilot and several episodes, and the Season 1 soundtrack features 12 original songs performed by cast members Lumi Pollack, Carmen Sanchez, and Ruby Marino.

Guest star Sofia Carson appears as herself, meeting Electric Bloom at a record company and advising them not to lose the special thing they have, while Dara Renée also appears as herself after meeting the band during a photoshoot next door.

Electric Bloom was nominated for Best Song - Onscreen Performance - TV Show/Limited Series at the 2025 Hollywood Music In Media Awards and for Best Hair Styling - Children and Teen Television Programming at the 2026 Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards.

Despite premiering with 142,000 viewers on July 10, 2025, ratings fluctuated significantly over time, dropping as low as 30,000 viewers on September 15, 2025, and as of July 2026 the show's renewal status remains unconfirmed by Disney amid rumors of cancellation.
