You and I Are Polar Opposites began as a one-shot manga published on Shueisha's Shōnen Jump+ platform on January 7, 2021, before being serialized as a full series from May 2022 to November 2024.

A spin-off novel titled You and I Are Polar Opposites: Sunny & Rainy, written by Shunto Saiba, was published in Japan on November 2, 2023, chronicling a single day from the perspectives of three groups of characters.

For the anime adaptation, most main characters received new voice actors compared to the original promotional video (PV) cast; for example, Miyu Suzuki was voiced by Yū Sasahara in the PV but by Sayumi Suzushiro in the final anime series.

The anime's first season features the opening theme 'Megane o Hazushite' performed by Noa and the ending theme 'Pure' performed by Pas Tasta featuring Eriko Hashimoto, with music composed by Tofubeats.
