The series is directed by Im Hyun-wook, known for Reflection of You (2021) and King the Land (2023), and written by Yoo Yeon-ga, who previously wrote Encounter (2018-19), Thirty-Nine (2022), and Divorce Attorney Shin (2023).

The drama was co-produced by three companies: SLL, Story Forest, and Studios IN.

Park Seo-joon was reportedly offered the male lead role as early as July 8, 2024, well before the show's premiere.

Won Ji-an and Park Seo-joon were reportedly officially confirmed as the leads in January 2025.

The series is one of the rare Korean dramas to feature location shooting in Pyeongtaek; the early scene where Gyeong-do and Ji-woo exchange phone numbers was filmed at a bus stop near Exit 2 of Pyeongtaek Station.

That Pyeongtaek Station bus stop and the station's new building were only built in 2009, meaning they did not actually exist yet during the story's 2007 setting depicted in that scene.

The fictional Juwon University, where Gyeong-do and Ji-woo meet and fall in love, was actually filmed at Hannam University.

The show was not made available on TVING's replay service, following the same distribution pattern as Esquire: Lawyers Who Dream of Being Lawyers, though replay could instead be watched via Coupang Play; TVING still offered live broadcasting and its Time Machine feature for paying members.
