The Diary of Anne Frank

The series is a BBC production made in association with France 2, adapting Anne Frank's diary for television with a script by Deborah Moggach.

Filming for the series began in October 2007 in the United Kingdom.

When broadcast in the United States on PBS's Masterpiece in 2010, the series was cut from its original 150 minutes to 100 minutes and shown in one evening instead of over five.

BBC representatives stated they hoped the drama would 'bring Anne Frank alive to viewers of all generations.'

Critic Michael Fox of jweekly.com highlighted a candid scene where Anne discusses the changes in her body and her confusion over puberty, noting this was one of the passages about Anne's sexuality that her father Otto Frank had removed before the diary's original 1947 publication, later restored in an edition released after his death in 1980.
