The show was created by Sue Rose, who had previously created the animated series Pepper Ann for Disney and Angela Anaconda, and who also co-created the character Fido Dido with Joanna Ferrone.

The theme song was performed by singer-songwriter Jill Sobule, who also wrote all the songs Addie performs throughout the series.

The song 'Mexican Wrestler', which appears in the episode 'The 66th Day', had actually first been released on Jill Sobule's own 2000 album Pink Pearl before being reused for the show.

Addie Singer crossed over into the Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh in a November 2004 episode called 'Honor Council', in which she helps Megan prank Josh, just months after both shows had premiered.

A video game based on the series was released for the Game Boy Advance by THQ on September 25, 2006, timed shortly before the launch of the show's third season.

A tie-in book series narrated by Addie herself was published starting in November 2005, written mainly by Robin Wasserman, with the final 2007 book adapting the two-part episode 'The Perfect Moment'.

The series was one of the most-watched programs in the United States among children and teenagers aged 10 to 16 during its run.
