Filing for Love was created by Yang Hee-seung and directed by Lee So-hyun, who previously helmed Delightfully Deceitful (2023) and My Dearest Nemesis (2025), while the screenplay was written by Yeo Eun-ho, who had worked with creator Yang on Crash Course in Romance (2023).

The series was produced by Studio Dragon and The Modori, the same production company known for co-producing Love Next Door (2024).

In June 2025, Shin Hye-sun was reportedly being considered for the lead role of Joo In-ah, alongside Gong Myung as a leading candidate for Noh Ki-jun.

Kim Jae-wook and Hong Hwa-yeon were reportedly cast the month after Shin Hye-sun and Gong Myung, with all four leads' casting officially confirmed by August 2025.

Principal photography began in September 2025.

On December 30, 2025, lead actor Gong Myung was hospitalized due to sudden deafness, which caused filming to be postponed; production was scheduled to resume on January 2, 2026.

The show streams on Wavve, which expanded its content range from Monday-Tuesday dramas to include Saturday-Sunday dramas like this one.

Each episode's subtitle is either a song title or a lyric line, such as episode 2's 'I Am the Best' (내가 제일 잘 나가), episode 4's 'Playing with Fire' (불장난), episode 5's 'I'm Heating Up' (열이올라요), episode 1's 'Up & Down' (위 아래 위 위 아래), and episode 3's 'A Woman with a Twist' (반전 있는 여자).
