The series is based on a premise where a high school girl secretly writes BL (boys' love) romance novels featuring her handsome teachers, only to become entangled with them in real life.

In late 2025, Kim Hyang-gi, Kim Jae-hyun, and Cha Hak-yeon were reportedly cast and filming began, before Son Jeong-hyeok and Kim Dong-gyu were officially confirmed to complete the main cast by February 2026.

Although Kim Dong-gyu's character Yoon Dong-ju is often mistaken for the youngest of the four teachers due to his youthful looks, he is actually the oldest among them.

Director Lee Tae-gon, previously known for helming 'Hello, My Twenties!' (2017) and 'True to Love' (2023), co-directed the series alongside Kim Jun-hyung.

The screenplay was written by Lee Min-joo, a winner of the CJ ENM O'PEN 2021 competition.

Singapore's state broadcaster Mediacorp co-produced the series, marking the company's first-ever production of a Korean drama.

Before its premiere, concerns were raised in South Korea that the show's depiction of a student writing sexually suggestive fan fiction (RPS/alpes) about real-seeming teacher figures could be seen as justifying such content, which can carry legal risks like defamation or sexual harassment claims; some commentators suggested the show could instead serve a public benefit if it portrayed the harmful aspects of such fan fiction rather than normalizing it.

The series premiered simultaneously on Coupang Play in South Korea and internationally on Amazon Prime Video on April 17, 2026, at 20:00 KST.
