Magical Travelers

The original work is handled by Katsura Utawaka, a rakugo storyteller who is a disciple of Katsura Utamaru and is known for his expertise in games and anime, and the Rakugo Art Association cooperated in the production as part of its 75th anniversary project.

In the work, the real rakugo storytellers Katsura Utamaru and Fujiko, a husband and wife, voice act themselves, and Sanyu-tei Koyuzo also appears as himself and performs an actual rakugo performance in the story.

Katsura Utawaka, the original author, is an enthusiastic fan of Sakura Wars, and the influence of this work can be seen throughout the piece.

The incantation "Ajara Ka Mokuren Kyuraisu~" that the protagonist Tsukishima Yui chants during her transformation is based on the incantation used to drive away the Shinigami in the rakugo piece "Shinigami" (The God of Death).

In the work, it is explained that Edo is protected by a barrier of the Five Fudo Myoo and that the celestial maiden's jewel is the power of the Five Fudo Myoo itself, but in reality it is doubtful whether the terms "Five Fudo" or "Five-Colored Fudo" existed in the Edo period, and it is unclear whether the names Moku-Fudo and Mokusei-Fudo existed before the Meiji period.

The surnames of characters who appear such as Tsukishima, Asahiyama, Yanaka, Koishikawa, Sengoku, Naito, and Kasai are all taken from actual place names in Tokyo, but these do not coincide with the locations of the Five-Colored Fudo.

The name Kasai Tetsuji, a character in the manga version, is derived from the real name of Katsura Utawaka, the original author.

On the television program "Shoten" broadcast on May 28, 2006, Sanyu-tei Koyuzo made an announcement about the DVD release of this work before the Oogiri corner began.
