Surface

Surface was created by brothers Jonas and Josh Pate and premiered on NBC on September 19, 2005.

The show went on a hiatus after ten episodes on November 28, 2005, returned for five more episodes starting January 2, 2006, and was officially cancelled by NBC on May 15, 2006 after just one season.

In episode 113, a scientist character interviewing for the secretive biotech company is told that the company had recovered a living Archaeopteryx and had discovered how to clone animals thirty years before Dolly the Sheep was cloned, tying the show's fiction to real-world genetic engineering history.

The mysterious creature that hatches from an egg found by teenager Miles is nicknamed 'Nim', short for 'Nimrod', a name given to it by his friend Phil.

The series was broadcast under different translated titles internationally, including 'Stvorenja' in Croatia, 'Άγνωστος Εχθρός' in Greece, 'Суштества' in North Macedonia, 'Na powierzchni' in Poland, and 'Surface - Unheimliche Tiefe' in Germany.

The complete series was released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment on August 15, 2006, under the title 'Surface: The Complete Series', with an Australian release following on April 4, 2007.
